Macau

Our pick up for the full day tour was scheduled for 7:30 so we were up early for an indifferent breakfast and were in the lobby early. Unfortunately, we didn't get the message that pick up was not until 8:10.

The ferry to Macau takes an hour and is smooth and fast. Our guide, Mario, explained everything, sometimes too well. The residents of Macau are very proud of their casinos. They have thirty eight, which is four more than Las Vegas, and many of the Las Vegas names are there like Wynn.

There is quite a difference between New Macau, much of which is built on reclaimed land, and Old Macau, which like Old China is harder and harder to find.

New Macau

This is the Kwan Yin Statue on the waterfront in Macau.

Mosaic near the Kwan Yin Statue.

 Incense at the A-Ma Temple.

A bustling shopping street.

St. Paul's Cathedral, built in 1602 and destroyed by a typhoon in 1835.

Jackie Chan's Casino features Beefeaters and 88 gold bars built into the floor.

Once back in Hong Kong, Bernie and I traded dollars for HK dollars at a street booth. Who knew that Hong Kong has its own money?
