With only one route to do, the Blue one, we had a leisurely start to the day. As our hotel did not have wi-fi, we headed to the first place that offered it, and that meant either the nearest Starbucks or McDonald's. McDonald's won, and we would soon learn that free wi-fi at Starbucks is dependent on a mobile phone that works in that country so we were all SOL. We even had lunch at a Starbucks hoping for wi-fi but no luck there either. Dinner was Chinese. Honest.
We walked to Langham Place to meet the bus and spent the time waiting by walking through the market. Goods of all kinds, vegetables, and even live fish.
We met the bus and finished off the Blue Tour and our Big Bus Experience was done. We went into Langham Place Mall and did all kinds of shopping, window, jewelry, and food. Seven stories of every store imaginable including Pandora. One has to have those beads. They are as bad as Harley-Davidson with city specific items! And no, even though I was close, I chose not to go to Harley-Davidson of Hong Kong. In fact, only one new H-D tee, but that too, is for later.
We walked through more markets on the way back to the hotel with the intention of a brief rest before dinner. We hit the Ladies Market and the Goldfish Market which were all close to our hotel.
They sell kittens in the Goldfish Market. Eliminating a step?
My wife was whipped and took a nap so Bernie and I went looking for a likely Chinese Restaurant. After walking up and down and a little sideways and through a street that sold nothing but textiles, we found a place and the menu had NOODLES! So back to the hotel and made plans and laid down and slept right through them. No problem. However, the restaurant like many places in China, said no to plastic, cash only. So Plan B, eat at the Chinese restaurant in the hotel. Some wok-fried beef w/vegetables, and some wok-fried scallops and Coral Mussels and all was good. I had never heard of Coral Mussels, or seen anything like them, and while they did not look like Lake Erie Mussels, I didn't go to Asia to eat like I was still in Ohio.
With a five am pickup, it was time to try to sleep and say goodbye to Hong Kong. Tomorrow would find us in Beijing.
