The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Last week, I re-read The Hobbit in preparation for seeing the movie adaptation. That being said, all of the reviews said blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

My only observation; it wasn't the book. The movie was very well done, and stands as a good prequel to The Lord of the Rings. (Plus, it was $5.00 night at Great Oaks!)

Bernie Christmas

Bernie had us over for Christmas with Aunt Rita and Uncle Ro. Brendan was there too.

The stars came out for New York City last night and the surrounding areas that were pummeled by Hurricane Sandy. The devastation is still widespread and it will be years before it is restored. The fund that the monies went to has a record of giving 100% to people in need so all is good in that respect.

We watched until Kanye West came on and I'm sorry but I just didn't get it.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band opened the show as most of them are from New Jersey and areas that were damaged. They were good as were Bon Jovi and some guy named Eric. I wasn't too sure about the relation of Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) to the area, and The Who have had better days. The Rolling Stones passed through in a short, two song set.
