Miyajima and Hiroshima

This was our first organized tour in Japan. We were picked up at the hotel and taken to the train station and whisked off at 180 MPH to Hiroshima Station. 500KM in just over one and a half hours. Smooth as silk and all that. Hiroshima would be our afternoon destination. We spent the morning on the island of Miyajima.

Bullet Train, Kyoto to Hiroshima.
Japan at 180 MPH.
Miyajiima is the home of the Itsukushima Shrine and one of the most impressive Torii Gates. We toured the shrine and the area around it, saw a wedding, and wandered through a street of vendors. The island is also home to tame deer who will literally come right up to you and snatch anything, particularly paper, right out of your hand.

Back on the bus and off to Hiroshima. There is really nothing that can be written about the A-bomb site and the Museum. It still amazes me that one group of humans could do that to another. The assholes in Iran and North Korea need to see this and soon.

Looking toward the museum.

Watched stopped forever by the blast.

Never again.
